Yin Yoga and QiGong with Tibetan Singing Bowls
Megan Kelly
Saturday, 1 pm @ The Sanctuary
Stretch your body, stretch your breath. Relax. Renew. Rejuvenate.
This class fuses together a Yin Yoga practice with Qigong exercises with the intention establishing a healthy and abundant flow of life force energy while breaking down and dissolving any blockages or obstructions.
Qigong is a movement meditation activating and circulating the chi energy by synchronizing physical movements with the breath. Yin yoga is a meditative practice activating and circulating chi energy by remaining in deep stretches for up to five minutes. Layered with the soothing sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, the fusion of these practices will bring about a calm, yet, highly awakened state; a clear and focused mind; and a deep integrated awareness of the totality of Being.
Each class will begin with a brief meditation, leading us into a variety of Yin yoga postures. Once the awareness is fully activated, we will ground the energy through Qigong exercises. As we move through the class, we will relate to all of the elements~ Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water~ and learn how these elements manifest through our bodies, our minds, and our lives. This class will leave you feeling fully relaxed and fully awakened!
Biography
Megan has been studying and practicing various forms of holistic healing for over 10 years. Inspired by her own suffering to find true healing, she sought out a multi-faceted education in the field of natural medicine. Her journey in the healing arts began in the religion department at Temple University where she studied Hindu philosophy. Inspired by her studies of yogic texts, Megan could not resist diving deep in to a Hatha yoga practice that, she soon discovered, would heal her body, her mind, and her heart. In 2004, Megan became deeply dedicated to her meditation practice which led her to become a certified Reiki practitioner. In 2006, Megan graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in Psychology and Religion.
