All-Levels Hammock
Lee Thompson
Sunday, 9am @ The Aviary
Whether you are new to aerials or a veteran, you’ll learn something new and challenging. Have fun as you slide, invert, and wrap yourself up in an aerial hammock.
All skill levels are welcome in my Aerial Hammock Workshop! We will start with the basics and build up, literally, to a beautiful and fun sequence. If you’ve never been upside down before, you’re in for a real treat! If you have, then rest assured that you’ll be rising to new heights. Safety, creativity, and efficiency, will be our primary focus in the workshop. We will also explore some stretches for splits and straddle flexibility, though neither are required for the workshop. I’ll give you the tools to help decompress your body and take care of yourself once we’re finished.
Biography
LEE THOMPSON has been practicing aerials for 8 years. She is both a seasoned performer and teacher, currently offering aerials classes at Awakenings Pole Dance Fitness, Kaya Aerial Yoga, and Tangle Movement Arts. She astounds in full-fledged productions throughout the city with Tangle, an eight woman circus company, that mixes traditional circus disciplines with dance, drama, and spoken word. Additionally, she is active in the community through Tiny Circus, a pop-up troupe stemmed from Tangle, that performs small shows to reach out to neighborhoods and promote the Arts in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. She is an ever- evolving artist, specializing in Hammock, Lyra, and Silks, while also exploring innovative blending of apparatuses in solo and partner contexts. She just recently awed in Tangle's 8th full-length production, "Tell It Slant," and is gearing up for yet another Acrobatic Piece in Philadelphia's Fringe Festival in the fall.
