Time to Soar

Rachel Rubin

Saturday, 9 am @ The Aviary

Everyone needs conditioning for building strength and flexibility as a beginner.  This introduces basic mechanics and form of climbing, locks, and simple sequencing.

This workshop is designed for aspiring birds with little or no experience on silk. In addition to introducing the basics from which one will expand aerial vocabulary, it emphasizes a healthy ground routine for building the strength and flexibility necessary to soar. Please cover legs, waist, and under arms for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Biography

RACHEL RUBIN is happy to present an Aerial Workshop with PEX yet again! She catapulted herself into the aerial scene just three years ago, and has been working her way up-literally!- ever since. She has trained at circus schools and hung from bridges all over the country.  When her vagabond spirit takes respite, she happily instructs students in grace and safety on Aerial Silks and provides a fierce performance to mesmerized audiences.  Having grown up as an athlete, doing long distance, swimming, and strength-based sports, then finding her passion in fire dance via the Burning Man Community, Aerial Acrobatics was a natural progression for her. She has been an integral part of the Philadelphia Movement Arts scene for years, which lead her to work with Spark Circus in Thailand. This perpetuated a recurring pattern of outreach and work with children, incorporating her ease at inciting happiness and passion in others. She has since delved into Holistic Circus Therapy, empowering patients by helping them to overcome personal physical challenges and build their confidence. A fiery and passionate performer, and an inspiration to those around her, Rachel lives the mantra of Setu Tribe, constantly building bridges to connect and share strength, growth, and learning.
