Aerial Theatrics & Sexuality
Kae Burke, Anya Sapozhnikova, & Elena Delgado
Sunday, 5pm @ The Aviary
In this workshop we will explore performance, musicality, and character through movement and improv-based exercises in the air and on the ground. Open to beginner/intermediate/advanced aerialists.
In this workshop we explore the expression of sexuality and theatrical performance through aerial silks using breath, audience connection, musicality, and movement. We use improvisation and theatrical exercises to explore your own personal style and expression of feeling sexy in the air. For intermediate and advanced aerialists only.
Biography
Kae Burke is an artist and performer who loves exploring play and character through circus arts. She is a co-founder of House of Yes and Lady Circus.
Anya Sapozhnikova fell head over heals in love with aerial acrobatics after taking her second silks class, in Brooklyn. Since embracing this art form eight years ago, she has studied every traditional aerial apparatus and has invented some of her own. From 2008-2013, Anya co-founded, and was the artistic director of, House of Yes Theater and its aerial facility Sky Box in East Williamsburg.
Elena is a performer and board member of the House of Yes and the co-director of Sky Box aerial arts studio. She regularly performs all over New York City – from corporate events to underground parties to nightlife fixtures such as The Slipper Room and The Box NYC. Her original aerial work has been seen in off-Broadway productions by the Rachel Klein ensemble, Eric Schmallenberger, The Constellation Moving company, and of course, the House of Yes, to name a few. As an aerial instructor she draws on her many years of performance experience, her background in theater and her certification in Pilates to help students achieve proper technique and a refined, individual style in a safe and fun environment. She believes that anyone can be a circus star in the making!
