Biography

$hredder Hoops is on a mission to enlighten and inspire by example. Strength, style, and the courage to shine combine to create her testament to the moment…don’t underestimate its potential. Anything is possible.

Since the beginning, curiosity for life has always caused Erin Shredder to explore many unique activities. As a Northern California native, her ideal occupation requires a combination of adventure, risk, and helping people. Some landmarks in her past include surfing wild waves, competing in triathlons, white water raft guide, massage therapy, and fighting fires. She also earned a BS in Marine Biology and Zoology and a minor in Studio Art. She enjoyed each activity and career in its own way but she still felt a burning desire to express herself artistically. 

In 2004, Erin was moved deeply by the hypnotic fluidity of a hoop dance performance at Burning Man. Once she tried the movement for herself, a newfound inspiration materialized and a love affair with the hoop ensued. $hredder Hoops was born. 

After much self-discovery and perseverance, $hredder created her dream occupation as a professional hoop and performance artist. In early 2006, Erin Shredder was contracted for her first national tour of the US with the New Cole Brothers Circus, performing for over half-a-million spectators in 97 cities spanning over 11 months. Upon returning to San Francisco, in 2007, she was promptly recruited by the well-known Vau de Vire Society, who she still currently collaborates with. She is also an independent agent with clients that include and are not limited to San Francisco Parks & Rec., Dos Equis, Mirrorball Productions, Supperclub, Earth Circus, Oakland Metro Opera House, Six Flags, and many more. 

Her skills have since expanded as an accomplished aerialist in both doubles and solo aerial acrobatics. She has also developed a wide range of ground acts, including fire dancing, hula hoops, solo and group acrobatics, live statue, roller skating, and more. She also makes all her own one-of-a-kind costumes.

Shredder Hoops has been acknowledged worldwide for her unique and spectacular performances earning:

“Performer of the Year”, SupperClub, San Francisco, 2013

“Fire Hooper of the Year”, Hooping.org, 2011. 

Two-time “Female Hooper of the Year” nominee, Hooping.org. 

Her collaborating company, Vau De Vire Society, won “Best Looking Show on Earth”, in the 2012, and “Best Circus”, in 2008. She has also gained much respect as an inspiring teacher and has taught all over the world. 

$hredder Hoops finds inspiration through all whom she meets and continues to grow and share her gifts with others. 

$hredder Hoops is based out of San Francisco, CA, and is currently for hire to travel worldwide as a fully insured private contractor.
