Contact Improvisation with Harrison Holmes
Harrison Holmes
Saturday, 5pm @ The Pavilion
Come fall, float and find your groove as you dance along the surface of the earth and the surface of your skin in this invigorating dance workshop. Learning to trust the floor, trust our bodies and trust each other, we will explore the effortless enjoyment of touch, lifts, rolls and leaps as we dance together.
Contact Improv is an improvisational dance form born from the sensation of the fall. Both the fall into gravity that brings us towards the earth, and the fall into each others arms, into and against other bodies as they lift us up, and away from gravity. It is about experiencing the force, momentum and sensations of these moments with the entire surface of our bodies, taking in new somatic information and exploring new ways of movement. Emphasizing partner work and our relation to other bodies, there is always a strong sense of community in Contact Improv. Coming together we learn to be both fearless and supportive when working with others at intimate distances.
Contact Improvisation is sure to be thrilling to anyone with experience in acro-yoga, object manipulation, capoeira or other martial arts.
